NEWS

Come to the ZOYRES CD RELEASE SHOW on September 11th at the Rickshaw Stop! We are very excited about this new CD which reflects all the grit, spontaneity, and joy that is the Zoyres sound. We'll be appearing with Edmund Welles and the Extra Action Marching Band as part of the Hornucopia Festival. There will be FREE homemade pickles (while supplies last). Come check it out!!


In other news, Sqwonk's East Coast Tour is now definitely
in the works for early December - contact me if you have
any ideas for venues we could play at!

MY APPROACH

My goal in all my musical pursuits is to make music
alive, intense, and vital. I don’t want it to be held back,
constrained, or tamed. This doesn’t mean I want
everything to be loud and screaming all the time;
just that I want it to be strong, direct,
and deeply felt, without pretension.

I write music for all sorts of ensembles, from orchestra
to chorus to rock band. To see a list of my works, listen

As a performer, I am involved in a variety of creative
and interesting projects. I am a member of the heavy
chamber music bass clarinet quartet Edmund Welles
and the klezmer / balkan / jazz / wild improv band
Zoyres, as well as a co-founder, composer,
and performer in the bass clarinet duo Sqwonk .
I also freelance as a classical clarinetist
and conduct compositions by students
and other young composers.
